Nigerian striker Gift Orban played a starring role for Hellas Verona in their 1-1 Serie A draw against Juventus at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi on Saturday.
Orban scored the equalizer in the 44th minute from the penalty spot, awarded following a VAR review that confirmed a handball by Juventus midfielder Joao Mario.
His composed finish not only gave Verona the lead but also earned him the Man of the Match award.
Orban joined Hellas Verona on loan from Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim during the summer transfer window and immediately broke into the first-team setup.
The Nigerian forward has made an instant impact in his debut season in Italy, and his goal against Juventus marks his first in Serie A for the club.
The strike also ended Juventus’ perfect league record, a result widely celebrated by Verona fans.

Following the match, Orban expressed his delight at his performance and his excitement about the season ahead.
“Hello Verona fans. I am very happy to receive this Man of the Match award. See you soon in the next game. Vamos!” he said.
Hellas Verona will now turn their attention to their Coppa Italia fixture against Venezia on Wednesday.
Verona head coach Paolo Zanetti considers Orban a key player in Verona’s campaign, and fans will be hoping the Nigerian striker can continue his impressive form in the coming matches.
