Super Falcons forward, Esther Okoronkwo stole the spotlight on Saturday, scoring twice and providing an assist as AFC Toronto thrashed Vancouver Rise FC 7–0 to book their place in the Northern Super League (NSL) playoffs.
The Nigerian international wasted no time in stamping her authority on the game, curling home a brilliant free kick in the 6th minute to give Toronto the lead.
She then capped her performance with a second goal in the 66th minute, continuing her outstanding form for both club and country.
Goals Flow for League Leaders
Apart from Okoronkwo’s brace, Kaylee Hunter struck twice to take her season tally to 12 goals.
Kaela Hansen, Sarah Stratigakis, and Jade Kovacevic, who netted her first of the season, also got on the scoresheet, ensuring a comprehensive victory.
Toronto End Vancouver’s Unbeaten Run
The record victory not only secured Toronto’s playoff ticket with four matches to spare but also ended Vancouver’s impressive eight-game unbeaten run.
It was Toronto’s biggest win of the campaign, continuing their dominance at the top of the standings.
Okoronkwo’s Red-Hot Form
Esther Okoronkwo has now tallied 7 goals and 7 assists this season, carrying the same blistering form that lit up the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Her consistency has made her one of the standout performers in the NSL this year.
Toronto remain firmly on top of the table as the first side to confirm their place in the playoffs, with sights now set on clinching the league title.
