
The Lagos state government has sealed up a residence in an estate over illegal discharge of waste into the environment.
A Nigerian man residing in the area had recorded a video showing the stagnant water around the said building, He claimed that the residents of the building improperly disposing waste. He said the stagnant water brewed a lot of mosquitos causing sickness in the area.
In a post on X, the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the complaint was acted upon and that the aid building has now been sealed.
‘’Following the public complaint by @Bond_not_james, we have acted decisively at TPDC Estate. The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed-off No. 11, Major Bolaji Ariyo Street, Off Afoluke Avenue, Lekki, Eti-Osa, Lagos, for deliberate discharge of wastewater into the environment, thereby causing public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life.
Improper disposal of waste poses serious environmental and public health risks, and we will not tolerate such violations. Our duty is to protect the environment and ensure that Lagos remains clean, safe, and livable for all.
