AC Milan are interested in Victor Boniface after a previous effort to get the player did not materialize.
Boniface is reportedly keen on the move and wants to join AC Milan, but Leverkusen want €50 million for the Striker.
The Nigerian didn’t feature in Leverkusen’s 4-0 DFB Pokal win against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach.
Head coach Erik ten Hag started with Patrik Schick upfront and brought in new signing Christian Michel Kofane.
In July, Boniface had committed his future to Bayer Leverkusen, but it looks like the signing of Kofane made him think otherwise.
Last month he told Sport Bild:
“My future is here. From my perspective, it is one hundred percent clear that I will stay,” he said.
“I have three years left on my contract. I want to win titles with Leverkusen and have a fantastic season.”
He also revealed that he had an open dialogue with sporting director, Simon Rolfes, even when his form faltered last season.
“I told him I love this. The transfer in January never happened. It happened as it happened. I’m staying.”
If the move to AC Milan materializes, Boniface will have to work on his fitness to cope with the intensity of Italian football.
The 24-year-old struggled with injury last season, missing 14 games due to a thigh problem and a hamstring injury.
Boniface is expected to compete with Santiago Giménez for the first-team role if he moves to AC Milan, or play up front with the Mexican.
