Ndidi is the ‘General’ Beşiktaş Need – Amokachi

Former Super Eagles star, Daniel Amokachi has hailed Wilfred Ndidi’s transfer to Turkish giants Beşiktaş.

He described the Nigerian midfielder as the perfect addition for the Istanbul side.

Amokachi, who himself enjoyed a successful spell with Beşiktaş during his playing career, believes Ndidi’s qualities will instantly solve a long-standing gap in the club’s midfield.

He compared the Super Eagles midfield anchor to Atiba Hutchinson, the Canadian veteran who was regarded as the “engine” of Beşiktaş before leaving in 2023.

“Ndidi coming into Beşiktaş is a plus because they need a hardcore midfielder on the pitch.

“You need a general — and that has been missing since Hutchinson left. Hutchinson was a player that gave 120%, and Ndidi is one of those replicas,” Amokachi stated.

The former Everton striker underlined what makes Ndidi special, pointing to his technical abilities and defensive traits.

“Ndidi can defend, he can pick the right passes, he’s very good in one-on-one situations, and he reads the game excellently. He’s always grinding on the pitch and giving everything,” Amokachi added.

Amokachi also urged fans not to place unnecessary pressure on the 28-year-old, insisting that Ndidi’s consistency speaks for itself.

“With Ndidi, we already know what to expect. He’s a player that always delivers, and I’m confident he will do the same wearing the black and white of Beşiktaş.”

The Nigerian international joined the Turkish side this summer after leaving Leicester City, where he spent eight seasons and established himself as one of the Premier League’s best ball-winning midfielders.
