Besiktas has announced Wilfred Ndidi as a new signing. He joins the club from Leicester City for a €9.5 million fee, on a three-year contract with an extension of a further year.
The Nigerian spoke about his excitement in joining Besiktas and shared his dream of helping the club win trophies.
When asked about his first feelings as a Beşiktaş player, he said: “It is really amazing. This is my second time in Turkey; I feel really great. Joining Besiktas is really amazing for me.”
Ndidi on wearing Besiktas clothes for the first time: “I feel it’s really great, very warm and welcoming. You could see before I put it on, I kissed the badge, which is very important—it shows love.”
Lastly, Ndidi assured the fans of his 100 percent commitment to the club’s project: “I want them to enjoy this season and we will see what comes out of it. I will try my best to support the team, be part of the team, and also try my best to win more games because more wins bring trophies.”
The 28-year-old is expected to play a big role in Ole Gunnar’s tactics. The Norwegian is known for playing a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the 28-year-old playing as a deep-lying playmaker.
His first match is expected to be against Irish side St. Patrick’s Athletic F.C. in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
