Atalanta CEO Reveals PSG Offered €20m for Lookman… Clears Air on ‘Gentleman Pact’ with Nigerian Star

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has explained the pact between the club and Ademola Lookman.

In a press conference that was arranged by the club for the unveiling of new goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, he clarified that there was a pact to allow Lookman to leave the club for a top European club for a lower fee — and that it wouldn’t be an Italian club.

“One year ago, in response to a €20m offer from PSG, Ademola Lookman had asked us to be transferred.”

“Atalanta, being a credible club, had promised to consider transferring the player in this transfer window based on two conditions requested by him: firstly, to join a top European club, and that in Italy, he would never be seen wearing a jersey other than Atalanta’s.”

“Today, the situation is quite different, but as always, it is the Atalanta club that decides the timing and value of its players.”

Lookman submitted a transfer request on Sunday. He also told the public about the unfair treatment he has received from Atalanta during his time at the club.

The relationship between Lookman and Atalanta is broken. He has deleted all of the club’s pictures from his Instagram handle and has removed the club from his bio.

He was dropped from Atalanta’s friendly match against RB Leipzig.
