Super Eagles striker, Sikiru Alimi has moved to ease growing concerns following the team’s goalless draw with Zanzibar in their friendly match on Monday.
The encounter, held behind closed doors, raised questions about the team’s sharpness ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), but Alimi insists there’s no cause for alarm.
Alimi explained that the players are still adjusting to head coach Eric Chelle’s tactical demands, as well as adapting to the weather conditions and general atmosphere in Zanzibar.
Despite the result, he maintained that the team is putting in the work to address key areas needing improvement.
Alimi expressed confidence that the Super Eagles B will step up when the tournament begins in earnest.
The team is expected to take on Zanzibar again in a second friendly on Thursday as preparations continue.
