Wilfried Ndidi Features for Leicester Amid Exit Rumours

Wilfred Ndidi was back in Leicester City colours on Thursday morning, featuring in a pre-season friendly against FC Karpaty Lviv.

The Foxes edged the Ukrainian side 2–1 at the Friedberg Stadion in Germany.

But while the performance on the pitch was steady and composed, it did little to silence the growing uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.

The Nigerian midfielder, even with his contract running until 2027, has been the subject of transfer speculation for months.

From reported interest in Turkey and France to links with Saudi clubs, Ndidi’s name has circulated widely.

Yet, as July draws to a close, he remains a Leicester player.

Even though new head coach Marti Cifuentes handed Ndidi a full 90 minutes earlier today, it remains unclear whether the midfielder still has a role to play in Leicester’s Championship campaign, or if his involvement is more about maintaining his value ahead of a possible transfer.

Leicester’s summer transfer activity has been relatively quiet, but retaining Ndidi could prove to be one of their most strategic decisions—especially considering his experience and the leadership void left by recent exits.

Still, there’s a sense that both the club and the player may be bracing for a parting of ways.

For Ndidi, now 28 and in the prime of his career, the next move is critical.

A transfer abroad could provide a fresh challenge and financial rewards, but staying could see him anchor Leicester’s push for a Premier League return under their new manager.
