Eguavoen Urges Nigerian Coaches To Lead Football Development

The technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Augustine Eguavoen has urged Nigerian coaches to take full ownership of their professional development.

Eguavoen stressed the need for Nigerian coaches to take the lead in shaping the future of football development locally.

“Nigeria is the sixth nation doing this in the whole of Africa,” he said. “FIFA and CAF want us to own leadership of what we’re doing.”

“We understand our own people we speak the same language, so it’ll be easier to transfer that knowledge to our upcoming coaches,” Eguavoen added.

He concluded with a rallying call to his colleagues to take the initiative seriously and set a new standard in African coaching education.

“We are all here to make sure we go home with the best and become trainers of the world.”

The program, aimed at developing coach educators across the continent, is seen as a major step toward strengthening Nigeria’s technical capacity at grassroots and elite levels.
