Omeruo Joins CFR Cluj on Free Transfer

Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo , has sealed a move to Romanian side CFR Cluj following the expiration of his contract with Turkish club Kasımpaşa.

The experienced centre-back joins the Romanian Liga I outfit on a free transfer as part of the club’s summer recruitment drive.

The move marks a new chapter in the career of the 31-year-old, who brings a wealth of international and club experience to Cluj’s backline.

Omeruo has been capped 68 times for Nigeria since making his senior debut in 2013, and was a key member of the squad that lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations . He was also included in the Super Eagles’ final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

At club level, Omeruo has played across several European leagues, with stints in England, Netherlands, Spain and Turkey, racking up over 300 appearances.

He was loaned to 5 different clubs during his seven years stint at Chelsea, before finally signing for Leganes on a permanent deal.

Omeruo becomes the club’s latest addition in the summer window and will be hoping to hit the ground running as pre-season preparations continue.
