Ahead of the much-anticipated third edition of the prestigious annual 1XBET Community
Cup football championship, the organisers on Tuesday, paid a courtesy visit to the office of
Lagos State Sports Commission and were warmly received by Director-General Mr. Lekan
Fatodu and the Chairman of the LSSC.
The 1XBET team was led by the tournament consultant and chief organiser, Engr. Waidi
Akanni and accompanied by Mr. Nnana, Mr. Adedimeji, Ms. Geraldine and Mr. Ademola.
Akanni, speaking on behalf of the team explained that the visit was ostensibly to intimate the
leadership of the LSSC about the 1XBET Community cup which is in its third edition and of
course, how much it has continued to positively impact and empower the youths and promote grassroots football.
He added that the visit was also necessary to seek the collaboration and endorsement of the
LSSC.
Akanni, a former Nigeria international player, who was also a former Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, explained that the championship is not just about football, but a
movement that truly empowers the youths of the state.
The Director-General of the LSSC, Lekan Fatodu, in his speech, thanked the team for the
visit and expressed the appreciation of the LSSC and particularly, the government of the
state to 1XBET for their promotion and empowerment of youths at the grassroots level. He
added that the LSSC, are willing and ready to partner with the organisers of the 1XBET
football championship, for the benefits of the game in the state.
Same day, the team also visited the Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Hajji
Gafar Liameed, who received them warmly, while commending them for their contributions
to the development of grassroots football in the state.
Akanni, on his part, noted the developmental strides of the Lagos FA, even as he reiterated
the commitment of 1XBET to the growth of football in the state.
