Newsypeople- Monday, July 8th, 2024. Staff of office and instruments of office were given by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to the new king Elempe of Tapa. His name is His Royal Majesty Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi Sunday. This big event happened at Elempale Community High School in Tapa.
The event was of great significance for the Tapa community. The new king assumed his position with much customary grace and honour in their culture. Governor Maskinde, who dispatched his Deputy Barrister Adebayo Lawal to stand in for him, talked about how important Eilempe’s part is in fostering unity, tranquilly, and advancement within the community.
In the coronation event, it was clear that the community appreciates tradition, openness, and following laws. The governor also talked well about how we chose our king (Oba Oyekanmi); he said, “This is a very good day for Tapa and all of us who trust in keeping their customs alive.”
Governor Makinde gave counsel to the fresh king, telling him to cooperate tightly with the government on significant issues such as education, healthcare services, safety, and the continued development of the economy.
He also stressed that it is crucial for Elempe to fight against bad things like kidnapping, banditry, and stealing land, which have been causing problems within the community. The governor requested his assistance in eliminating these troubles.
After the honour was given, Oba Oyekanmi spoke. He first thanked God and Governor Makinde for this kind action. Once more, he shared that his place will be like a bridge linking government to people.
He assured that when leading Tapa Land, there would be considerable progress, peace, and remarkable growth. The king talks and says that the tools of his position will make Tapa more important in its group of communities.
During the coronation, many important people from different parts of the state came to participate. Among them were also the Speaker of the Oyo State House Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the Speaker of the House, and Hon.
Akintunde Olajide, who functions as Chairman of the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in the house. The event demonstrated an enduring Tapa spirit and expectation for a brighter tomorrow, with Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi leading.
