Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the market for a striker following their poor Premier League start.
The club lost 4-0 on the opening Premier League weekend against Manchester City and 1-0 to Bournemouth in their second matchday.
Wolves are also struggling with finding the back of the net as they are limited up front, with only Jørgen Strand Larsen as their recognized centre forward.
They are interested in Chrisantus Uche as they have identified him as a potential solution to their goal-scoring woes.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Wolves have submitted a €20 million bid for Uche and negotiations are already in progress with the player’s representatives.
The Nigeria international, originally a midfielder, has transitioned into a forward who is capable of playing as a striker or attacking midfielder.
Uche’s versatility will play a big role in how Vítor Pereira sets up his side in his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.
The 22-year-old can play as a lone striker or as one of the 10’s, helping to press from the front in Pereira’s tactical set up.
Getafe manager, Pepe Bordalás is reluctant to let Uche go as he is a key part of his project, but due to Getafe’s registration issues with La Liga they have to sell.
The 61-year-old expressed his desire for Uche to remain at the club a week ago. He told club media:
“He is our player. We have complete confidence in him. We knew he would be important today — and he was. His level doesn’t surprise us.
“Right now, he’s a Getafe player, and we trust that he’ll stay here.”
Uche had his breakthrough last season where he scored La Liga four goals and provided seven assists in 38 matches — an impressive number for a struggling side.
He joined Getafe from AD Ceuta in the summer of 2024 for a €500,000 fee.
