Walid Regragui Considered for Ghana Job After Otto Addo Exit

The Ghana Football Association have opened discussions with Walid Regragui over the vacant head coach role of the Black Stars.

The position became available following the dismissal of Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties just a day ago after a series of poor results.

Regragui is currently without a job, having stepped down from his role as head coach of the Morocco national team, after their defeat in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite that setback, his tenure with Morocco is widely regarded as historic and successful.

Regragui achieved a landmark feat by becoming the first African coach to guide a team to the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, accomplishing this during the 2022 edition.

Across 49 matches, he recorded 36 wins, 8 draws, and just 5 defeats, underlining his strong managerial credentials.

Ghana see Regragui as an ideal candidate to take over the national team, particularly with the World Cup now just three months away.

However, reaching an agreement may prove challenging.

During his time with Morocco, his salary was estimated to be between $75,000 and $82,000, and any potential deal with Ghana is expected to meet or exceed those figures.
