Vienna Hotel Denies Ghanaian Players were Burgled on Premises

The Ghana senior national team has reportedly suffered a robbery incident during their stay in Vienna, just hours before their 5–1 loss against Austria.

The unfortunate event is said to have occurred while the players were out for a training session, leaving their hotel rooms unattended.

According to initial reports, unidentified thieves gained access to the players’ rooms and made away with valuable items.

Among the stolen belongings were approximately $2,250 in cash and two Rolex watches, raising serious concerns about security arrangements at the team’s accommodation.

The incident has since been reported to Austrian authorities, who have commenced investigations into the matter.

As part of the ongoing efforts, officials attempted to review CCTV footage from the hotel.

However, it was discovered that the hotel’s surveillance system was not operational at the time the theft occurred, significantly complicating the investigation process.

In a surprising twist, the hotel management has denied that any robbery took place on the premises, pushing back against the claims despite the players’ reports.

This contradiction has added another layer of uncertainty to the situation, as authorities work to establish the facts.

Investigations are still ongoing, with efforts being intensified to uncover the circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery.

Authorities are expected to continue gathering evidence and speaking with relevant parties to determine exactly what transpired.

The incident has cast a shadow over the team’s preparations and may have had an impact on morale ahead of their heavy defeat, as attention now shifts from the result on the pitch to resolving the troubling off-field developments.
