Victor Boniface’s proposed move to AC Milan has collapsed following medical advice, as confirmed by multiple sources.
French journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that Victor Boniface’s move to AC Milan has fallen through.
Earlier, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Boniface would return to Germany to rejoin Bayer Leverkusen, as there was no green light for the move.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Managing Director of Sport, Simon Rolfes, told BILD that if Boniface returns, the deal with AC Milan will be off:
“If Boniface comes back to Leverkusen, the AC Milan deal will be over. That’s no big secret.
I don’t think that we will renegotiate the deal. His physical situation has improved compared to the beginning.”
The reason for AC Milan’s withdrawal was based on medical advice, according to Sacha Tavolieri. Boniface has a pre-existing ankle injury, and the club decided not to take the risk.
Earlier in the week, AC Milan had reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for Boniface. The Nigeria international was set to join the club on a season-long loan.
The fee was €5 million, with a non-mandatory buy option clause worth €24 million. The Italian club was aware of his physical condition before reaching the agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.
Boniface missed 14 games last season, mostly due to thigh and hamstring injuries.
