Tolu Arokodare Admits Grim Realization of Super Eagles Spot

Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare has revealed that he knew he would not be part of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 squad before the final list was announced.

Arokodare explained that his last game with the Super Eagles against DR Congo did not go as planned, giving him an early sense that he might be left out.

He also reflected on his club season at Wolves, noting that he had a realistic view of his standing in the pecking order.

“To be fair I kinda knew without anyone telling me. I felt it since that DR Congo game, the way I came on and came off, the way the results went.

“I don’t want to talk about the chances I missed because I was obviously trying to score. The way my last game went in the national team wasn’t really the best.

“The way my season was going at Wolves I wasn’t playing regularly. I was like Tolu, common, if you were the coach would you call yourself,” Arokodare said.

Arokodare was not included in Nigeria’s AFCON 2025 squad.

The 25-year-old has scored two goals in ten appearances for the national team and five goals in 28 appearances for Wolves.
