“They Are Very Focused!” – Justin Madugu Backs Super Falcons Conquer Morocco in WAFCON Final

Just a day to the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final clash between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and host nation Morocco in Rabat, interim head coach, Justin Madugu has delivered a strong message of assurance and composure.

Madugu, speaking with confidence ahead of Thursday’s final in Rabat, insisted that his team remains laser-focused despite the enormous pressure of facing a vocal home crowd and the weight of public expectations.

“They Know Why We Are Here” – Justin Madugu Unshaken by Pressure Ahead of Rabat Final

The former Falcons assistant, who stepped into the interim role following Randy Waldrum’s departure, commended his players for their unity, maturity, and ability to navigate through difficult in-game moments.

“They are very focused. They know the purpose of which we are here. They know why we are here,” Madugu began firmly.

“They are not allowed anything to distract them. They are getting focused. They are remaining focused.”

Madugu stated that the team’s mental resilience has been visible throughout the tournament, particularly in their semi-final victory over South Africa, which came courtesy of Michelle Alozie’s stoppage-time screamer.

“And you can see it’s also telling in the way they perform on the field of play. Even when things don’t go their way, they have a way of getting themselves together and encouraging each other, motivating each other, summing up the story.”

Super Falcons Fly Under Pressure

Nigeria, aiming for their 10th WAFCON crown, have navigated a tricky campaign, including surviving a tough group and edging out reigning champions Banyana Banyana in the semi-final to secure a place in the title match.

With Morocco backed by a home crowd and desperate to win their first-ever WAFCON title on home soil, the odds and atmosphere may seem daunting. But Madugu maintains that the Super Falcons are unfazed.

The much-anticipated final will kick off at 9:00 PM local time on Saturday, July 26, at the Stade Olympique in Rabat, Morocco.

The Super Falcons, unbeaten in the tournament so far, will look to add another chapter to their legendary continental dominance.
