Melbourne City FC have confirmed the signing of Nigeria’s Chinaza Uchendu ahead of the 2025/26 A-League Women’s season, strengthening their attacking options with a proven international star.
The 27-year-old forward arrives from French side Nantes, bringing top-flight experience from Europe and Asia.
Uchendu has previously enjoyed spells in Portugal, Sweden, South Korea, Turkey, and Nigeria, with her career highlight including a title-winning stint at Galatasaray.
Her versatility allows her to operate as a striker, winger, or attacking midfielder, making her a valuable asset for Michael Matricciani’s squad as City aim for success both domestically and in continental competition.

On the international stage, Uchendu has represented the Super Falcons on 10 occasions, playing a role in Nigeria’s 2018 WAFCON triumph and featuring in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where the team reached the Round of 16.
