Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has urged supporters to stand firmly behind the team as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Nigeria will face Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Int’l Stadium on Saturday, and Iwobi believes the backing of the fans will play a crucial role in pushing the players to deliver.
According to the midfielder, the squad remains optimistic about their chances and fully committed to achieving the target of reaching the next World Cup.

“My message would be to continue supporting us. As players, we believe, so if you guys can also believe in us and give us the energy we need, we can achieve our goal of going to the World Cup,” Iwobi said.
The 29-year-old, who has been a consistent presence in the national team for over a decade, highlighted the strong team spirit in camp and insisted the players are determined to make the country proud.

“The mood is good. Everyone is feeling positive and optimistic. We’re excited to play our first game against Rwanda, and hopefully, we can prepare well and get the result we want,” he added.

Nigeria are chasing a return to the global stage after missing out on the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
With preparations underway, Iwobi believes the Super Eagles have what it takes to overcome the hurdles ahead.
The Super Eagles camp has now received all 23 players, and the team held a training session yesterday.
