A lot of footballers in the diaspora have played for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team. The newest addition is Felix Agu.
Felix, born in Germany and who represented Germany at various youth levels, announced his desire to play for Nigeria.
He said his dream is to play for the three-time African Cup of Nations champions and that it would make him proud.
Agu applied to play for Nigeria soon after the interview and was cleared to represent the country in May 2025 by FIFA.
He received his first call-up to the Super Eagles that same month and made his debut during that period in a Unity Cup friendly against Jamaica.
Agu primarily plays as a left-back but can also operate as a left midfielder and right-back.
The Werder Bremen star has attracted interest from Premier League, Serie A, and Bundesliga clubs including Fulham and West Ham, who were keen on signing him.
The 25-year-old didn’t seem to be swayed by the rumours as he debunked them.
He said: “There hasn’t been anything interesting that made me say, ‘That would be an option for me.’ Of course, I can’t rule it out, but I’m really not interested in anything else at the moment.”
Felix Agu played 22 matches for Werder Bremen last season. He was given a 7.05 rating by FotMob for his performance in the league.
He is expected to play more this season due to Mitchell Weiser’s injury.
