Sodiq Awujoola Returns to Ceramica Cleopatra After Pyramids Fail to Make Loan Deal Permanent

Nigerian striker, Sodiq Awujoola has left Pyramids FC following the expiration of his loan deal and has returned to his parent club, Ceramica Cleopatra.

Pyramids opted not to activate the purchase option included in Awujoola’s contract, which was valued at $2 million and had a deadline set for the end of April.

The club failed to meet that timeline, allowing the forward to return to Ceramica Cleopatra.

The 24-year-old played a key role in Pyramids’ historic 2024/25 campaign, helping them win the CAF Champions League — the most prestigious trophy in African club football.

Awujoola contributed five goals and five assists in 25 appearances during his spell at the club.

Confirming his departure via Instagram, Awujoola wrote:

“Just a message of thanks to everyone at Pyramids for what has (injury aside) been an incredible few months for me… It’s really a special club to me, and I appreciated the way everyone in the club treated me.

“Love and care from the president of the club, my teammates, and the coaching staff have all been amazing. I’m really grateful and happy to have won the most important trophy with you guys.

“Thanks for everything.”
