Akor Adams scored his seventh goal of the season, but Sevilla FC were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against Rayo Vallecano.
The Nigerian striker gave Sevilla the lead in the 13th minute.
César Azpilicueta beat his marker on the flank and delivered a pinpoint cross into the box, where Adams rose perfectly to head the ball into the net.
Rayo Vallecano responded early in the second half. In the 50th minute, Alfonso Espino equalized with a stunning strike.
After receiving the ball from Fran Pérez, Espino drove forward before unleashing a powerful shot from outside the box into the top-right corner, leaving goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos with no chance.
Speaking after the match, Adams expressed his happiness at getting on the scoresheet but admitted disappointment at Sevilla dropping points.
“I’m happy to score again, but we wanted the three points. We worked hard during the game and created chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t keep the lead.”
The forward also emphasized that the team’s success remains his main priority.

“For me the most important thing is the team. As a striker I want to help with goals, but winning matches is what really matters.”
Sevilla will now turn their attention to their next fixture against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou on Sunday, March 15.
Adams will be hoping to continue his scoring form when Sevilla face the Spanish giants.
