Sevilla FC have confirmed the departure of Kelechi Iheanacho after just one season with the club.
The LaLiga side made the announcement on their official X account on Monday, stating:
“An agreement has been reached with Kelechi Iheanacho to rescind his contract. Best of luck for the future, Senior Man.”
Iheanacho, 28, joined Sevilla in the summer of 2024 as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Leicester City, where he spent seven years.
His arrival in Andalusia was expected to add depth and experience to the attack, but the Nigerian forward struggled to establish himself in Garcia Pimienta’s side.
He started only five LaLiga matches in the first half of the 2024/25 campaign, failing to secure a regular role.
In search of more playing time, Iheanacho was loaned to Championship outfit Middlesbrough during the January transfer window.

The move offered him an opportunity to reignite his form in English football, but Sevilla have now opted to part ways permanently with the former Manchester City man.

Iheanacho leaves Sevilla after a short stint that failed to live up to expectations, but his proven record in the Premier League and international experience ensures he will attract interest in the coming weeks.
Despite the closure of the summer transfer window, Iheanacho remains free to sign for another club as a free agent.
Reports in Scotland suggest Celtic FC are actively pursuing a deal for the striker as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
