Super Eagles Defender Semi Ajayi’s New Club Confirmed

Semi Ajayi’s New Club Confirmed: Hull City are on the verge of completing the signing of Nigeria international Semi Ajayi, following confirmation that the defender will depart West Brom at the end of June upon the expiry of his contract.

Ajayi,31,is set to leave the Hawthorns after six years, during which he made 177 appearances and scored 13 goals.

The Super Eagles center back joined West Brom from Rotherham United in 2019 and quickly established himself as a key figure in their backline.

Reports suggest that Hull City, under new manager Sergej Jakirović, have identified Ajayi as a crucial target to bolster their defensive options ahead of the 2025–26 Championship season.

The 2024–25 season was a challenging one for Ajayi, who was limited to just 15 appearances due to a long term hamstring injury.

Despite this setback, his overall Championship experience and international pedigree continue to make him an attractive option for clubs seeking a player to take up leadership responsibilities.

Sources close to the negotiations have revealed that discussions between the club and the player’s representatives are at an advanced stage.

Hull City are looking to build a squad capable of pushing for promotion, and Ajayi’s potential arrival would add both quality and experience to the backline.

The Yorkshire club ended the 2024/25 season in 21st place with 49 points, narrowly avoiding relegation on goal difference, with Luton Town finishing 22nd and going down.

Ajayi has also been a regular figure for Nigeria’s national team, earning 35 caps and participating in major tournaments such as the 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
