Remo Stars Seek Redemption After Crushing Home Defeat to Sundowns

Remo Stars FC faced a challenging match on Sunday, suffering a 5–1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second-round clash at the MKO Abiola Stadium.

Speaking after the match, Remo Stars head coach Tiago Conde acknowledged the considerable disparity in experience and resources between his team and the South African giants.

Despite the heavy loss, Conde expressed optimism about their prospects in the return leg, pledging to analyze the team’s mistakes and devise a strategy to overcome the four-goal deficit.

“It’s a different context, a different team, a different environment. We cannot compare Mamelodi’s history in this competition to that of Remo Stars,” Conde stated.

“A difference of four goals is challenging, we recognize that, but it’s not impossible,” he
declared.

The Portuguese tactician also shared his plan for the return leg.

“In South Africa, we will assess the mistakes made in this match—both collectively and individually—correct them, and formulate a game plan.”

Making only their second appearance in the CAF Champions League, Remo Stars found it difficult to contain a relentless Mamelodi Sundowns offense, leading to a one-sided encounter.

However, Conde’s resolve to learn from the defeat and inspire a comeback has rekindled hope among The Sky Blue Stars’ supporters.

Remo Stars will now travel to Pretoria for the return leg against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday, October 26, hoping to keep their continental dreams alive.
