Paris Saint-Germain Féminines continued their strong start to the season with a 5-2 win over Nantes at the Parc des Princes on Saturday, as Nigeria captain Rasheedat Ajibade registered her first assist for the French giants.
The hosts took charge quickly when Nantes defender Maureen Cosson put the ball into her own net in the 6th minute. Romee Leuchter extended PSG’s advantage in the 20th minute with a composed finish.
Rasheedat Ajibade Announced her Presence
Ajibade made her presence felt in the 40th minute, providing a perfectly weighted cross for Merveille Kanjinga, who powered home a header.
It was Ajibade’s first assist in PSG colours since her summer switch from Atlético Madrid.
PSG sealed the points with two quick strikes late in the game. Griedge Mbock scored in the 82nd minute before Florianne Jourde added a fifth five minutes later.
Nantes pulled two goals back through Cosson (83’) and Machart Rabanne (90+4’), but PSG’s dominance ensured a comfortable win.
Rasheedat Ajibade Leads Nigeria’s Influence in Paris
Ajibade joined PSG permanently last month after leaving Atlético Madrid in June when her contract expired. Her move to Paris has already begun to pay off as she quickly adapts to life with the French side.
Ajibade played a prominent role in attack, linking well with her new teammates. Jennifer Echegini, her Super Falcons teammate, also impressed, completing the full 90 minutes in midfield with calm distribution and strong control.
