Paul Onuachu is on the verge of completing a permanent move to Trabzonspor, with multiple reports indicating that a full agreement has been reached between Southampton and the Turkish club for the Nigerian striker.
Despite receiving more lucrative offers, including one from a club in Belgium, Onuachu remained committed to rejoining Trabzonspor, where he had a standout loan spell in the 2023/24 season.
He scored 17 goals in all competitions, including 15 in 21 league appearances, finishing as
the club’s top scorer and guiding them to a third-place finish in the Süper Lig.
Southampton had initially placed a higher valuation on the player, reportedly between €10–
15 million, but were eventually persuaded to accept a lower figure of around €6–8 million,
including potential add-ons.
Standing at 2.01 metres, the towering striker offers a unique physical presence, aerial threat,
and proven goal-scoring ability.
His profile fits perfectly into Trabzonspor’s attacking setup, and his return is seen as a major
boost ahead of the new season.
The 31-year-old joined Southampton from Belgian side Genk in early 2023 but struggled for
consistency in the Premier League.
His time in Türkiye, however, has revitalised his form and confidence, making this move a
logical next step for both player and club.
While official confirmation from the clubs is still awaited, all indications suggest the deal is
at its final stage, with medicals and contract signing expected in the coming days.
