Paul Onuachu scored the decisive goal as Trabzonspor defeated Gaziantep FK 2-1.
Mohamed Bayo gave Gaziantep a surprise lead in the 22nd minute, but Felipe Augusto equalized just two minutes later.
The game turned in Trabzonspor’s favor in the 27th minute when Onuachu fired a right-footed shot from the center of the box past Zafer Gorgen into the bottom right corner.
Onuachu’s goal proved to be the winner and extended Onuachu’s lead at the top of the Süper Lig goal-scoring chart to 17 goals.
Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke praised his team’s performance and highlighted the importance of the victory:
“It’s a very valuable 3 points for us. After the last match, we left ourselves in a situation we didn’t want. It was a tough away game.
“The opponent had chances, and we didn’t start well either. Afterwards, we conceded a goal, then scored consecutive goals.
“We could have played better, but these matches aren’t easy. There are no easy games in the league. I also congratulate the Gaziantep team. I congratulate our players for winning this match. We take it game by game every week. We are 7 points behind the leaders.

“It will be difficult, there are no easy games. Onana made very important saves.
“Today we didn’t play with three at the back, but our positioning was like that against the opponent, though we didn’t play a back three.
“Afterwards, we returned to our usual style and got the results we deserved.”
The win sees Trabzonspor climb to third place in the Turkish Süper Lig table with 48 points, four behind second-placed Fenerbahce and seven points behind league leaders Galatasaray.
