Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen scored the winner as Galatasaray got off the block in the UEFA Champions League beating Liverpool 1-0 in Istanbul.
It was a memorable night for Galatasaray because no one gave them a chance coming into the game, especially after their 5-1 opening match defeat to Frankfurt.
Osimhen’s goal came from the spot in the 16th minute, but he was phenomenal throughout the 71 minutes; completing 89 percent of his passes, creating a chance, and completing 100 percent of his dribbles.
He made four ball recoveries thanks to his pressing and the energy level he displayed all through the game, especially during his duel with Virgil Van Dijk.
That battle led both players to exchange shirts after the match.
Defensively, he was outstanding as he completed 100 percent of his tackles, won four ground duels, and two aerial duels.
Okan Buruk shared his reason for substituting Osimhen early, emphasizing that the striker is fine.
“Victor Osimhen had a cramp. I don’t think it’s a very serious situation. No bad news has come either.”

“It is not going to be easy. We have to take each game as it comes. We still have some games coming, and we will be ready. We will try to give our all to ensure that we make history with this club.”
Osimhen became the first Nigerian to reach double figures in the UEFA Champions League. He has also scored against every English club (6) he faced in any European club competition.
The second after him is Nigerian football legend Obafemi Martins, who scored nine goals.
