Birmingham City defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has hailed the home supporters after delivering a Man of the Match performance on his debut.
The Nigerian international impressed in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, helping the Blues secure a point in their Championship opener.
Osayi-Samuel recently joined the English second-division club on a three-year contract as a free agent, following his spell with Turkish side Fenerbahce.
He likened the atmosphere to the electric scenes he experienced in Turkey, insisting it boosted the team’s morale.
“It was amazing. Of course, I’ve been in Turkey, where it’s crazy there, but I don’t think I’ve seen an atmosphere like this in England,” Osayi-Samuel told the club’s media.
“It’s important because it gives us that extra push — and we really felt that. We’ll need them for every game, home and away, because it’s a long season. This was a great start.”
The 27-year-old fullback is expected to play a pivotal role in Birmingham City’s upcoming schedule.
The Blues will host Sheffield United in the first round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday, before visiting Blackburn Rovers for their second league match.
