Paul Onuachu was back in action on Thursday evening as he joined Trabzonspor’s training session ahead of their final pre-season fixture.
The towering striker took part in warm-up drills and a full-pitch practice match under the supervision of head coach Fatih Tekke.
Onuachu had recently missed action after picking up a knock in a preparation match against Araz Nakhchivan PFK, which led to severe swelling and a minor ligament injury in his left ankle.
Now fully involved in training, the Nigerian is expected to be in contention for a place in Saturday’s friendly against Ümraniyespor.
Trabzonspor will open their 2025/26 Turkish Super Lig campaign on August 11 with a clash against newly promoted Kocaelispor.
Onuachu, who last featured for Nigeria in mid-2024, has struggled for consistent game time in recent months.
He will be aiming to rediscover his best form with Trabzonspor as he eyes a potential return to the Super Eagles setup under head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the remaining 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
