Real Salt Lake forward, Victor Olatunji has described his goal against Austin FC as an important moment in the club’s push to secure a Major League Soccer playoff spot.
Olatunji scored his second MLS goal late in the second half to make it 3-0 for Real Salt Lake.
He was substituted in the 87th minute after a decent performance.
Although Austin FC pulled one back late on, Olatunji’s goal gave his side breathing room as they ended a run of back-to-back defeats with a 3-1 victory.
“I would say the third goal was something we needed to seal the game because we’ve been coming from losses and difficult moments,” Olatunji said.

“We just try our best to stay in shape, and I pushed to get this goal, so it was very good for us. We need to keep pushing to qualify for the playoffs. From what I’ve seen, this team plays as a family, and I’m happy to be part of it.”
The result lifted Real Salt Lake to 11th place in the Western Conference standings, just one point outside the playoff positions with a game in hand.
With only three matches remaining for the Utah-based club in the regular season, every point will be crucial as the race for the final playoff spots tightens.
