Ola Aina impresses in Nottingham Forest’s PL Opener

Ola Aina had a solid performance in Nottingham Forest’s 3-1 win over Brentford in the club’s opening game of the season.

Chris Wood gave Nottingham Forest the lead in the opening ten minutes. Anderson played a corner, the ball was initially missed by Wood but rebounded to him, and he found the back of the net from six yards out.

Nottingham Forest felt they should have been awarded a penalty in the 36th minute after the ball mistakenly hit Antoni Milambo’s hand in the box following a free kick, but after the intervention of VAR the referee did not give it.

Dan Ndoye doubled Nottingham Forest’s advantage in the 42nd minute. Morgan Gibbs-White played a precise cross into the box, Ndoye rose above everyone to find the back of the net.

Five minutes later Wood netted his second of the game, to the frustration of the away fans.

Brentford gave the traveling fans something to cheer about in the 78th minute when they put the ball past Matz Sels in goal.

The game showed continuity of the good work Nuno Espírito Santo did last season. Forest deserved the win as they were superior to their opponents.

Nottingham Forest had 55% ball possession, 11 total shots with five on target, and played 334 accurate passes.

The Super Eagles right-back gave a very good account of himself in the game. He had the most tackles in the match, made seven clearances, eight ball recoveries, two interceptions, and won all four of his aerial duels.

The 28-year-old ran at a top speed of 32.6 kilometers per hour and covered a distance of 9.3 kilometers.

Aina also contributed in the team’s attack, making six passes into the final third and playing two accurate long balls.
