OGC Nice players demonstrated strong support for Terem Moffi and Jeremie Boga during their Ligue 1 match against Angers by wearing the duo’s names on their shirts.
The gesture served as a powerful message against racism, following the shocking abuse both players suffered last Sunday after Nice’s 3–1 loss to Lorient.
Moffi and Boga were reportedly confronted by around 400 Nice fans, who spat at, insulted, and physically assaulted the players.
In response, the club backed the squad’s decision to publicly display their names, highlighting Nice’s commitment to equality and the fight against racism.

Neither Moffi nor Boga was included in the squad for the match, as both have been granted time to recover from the traumatic incident.

Speaking on the situation, Moses Simon, Paris FC winger and Nigeria international of Moffi, expressed concern about his compatriot’s condition in an interview with RMC:
“I talked with him, he is touched, and he still has a bit of pain,” Simon said.
He also urged football authorities to take decisive action:
“When something like that happens, it’s not good. For a big Ligue 1 club, it’s not good. That something like this could happen in a top-5 European league… It’s really a mess, so I hope the club and the Federation will act and punish those responsible.”
The incident has drawn significant attention, with growing calls for stronger disciplinary measures and increased protection for players facing racial abuse.
