NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko Unveils Plan for Public ‘White Paper’ on Sports Sector Reforms

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has announced that a comprehensive white paper containing all issues, recommendations, and proposed reforms discussed at The Big Sports Dialogue 1.0 will be produced and made accessible to the public.

Speaking during the summit, Dikko emphasized that the white paper will not be a closed government document, but one designed to promote transparency and accountability.

“It can be circulated not just to us in government, but also to the people to see,” Shehu Dikko explained.

“By next year, when we meet for another dialogue, we can assess where we are coming from, what has improved, and what still needs attention.”

He added that the document will serve as a benchmark for evaluating progress, ensuring that reforms are not only initiated but consistently tracked.

“You have to be judged by your last result” – Shehu Dikko

Speaking and highlighting the need for continuous improvement, the NSC boss said constructive criticism is a natural and necessary part of development.

“Let me be fair: regardless of how good things are, even in the UK and the best countries in the world, people still complain and say they want to do better.”

“No matter how well you are doing, there will always be someone who says you can do better. That is normal.”

“That is the only way you can progress, because you have to be judged by your last result and see how you can improve on it.”
