Nottingham Forest has reached a mutual agreement with Emmanuel Dennis to terminate the player’s contract.
His deal was originally due to run until 2026, but the forward is no longer part of Nuno Espírito Santo’s plans.
Forest announced the decision on its official social media platforms, stating:
“Nottingham Forest can confirm that Emmanuel Dennis has left the Club following the mutual termination of his contract. We wish Emmanuel well for the future.”
Dennis joined Forest from Watford in August 2022, making 25 appearances and scoring six goals. However, he spent much of his time with the Reds on loan.
The Nigerian forward went on three separate loan spells—at İstanbul Başakşehir, a second stint at Watford, and most recently Blackburn Rovers, where he spent the latter half of last season.
None of these clubs opted to sign him permanently, as his performances were deemed below expectations for a professional player.
Dennis and his agents now faces the task of finding a new club, with no offers arriving this summer. A potential move to a newly promoted Turkish side could help in reviving his career.
The 27-year-old has earned only eight caps for Nigeria. He was called up by former Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, the season he was relegated with Watford.
However, the club refused to release him, claiming the Nigeria Football Federation had submitted the request too late. Dennis last featured for the Super Eagles in a 2022 friendly against Portugal.
