Swedish club, Djurgården IF have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old Nigerian striker Goodness Osigwe, one of the standout prospects from the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
Djurgården, with Goodness’ transfer, intent to blend youthful energy with international pedigree as they continue strengthening their squad for the Swedish league campaign.
Goodness Osigwe on Her Playing Style
Osigwe, who has already represented Nigeria at youth level, described herself as a forward who thrives on speed, skill, and confidence in attack.
“I’m fast and technical and like to challenge with my dribbling. Then there have been a few goals too and I have good self-confidence which helps me out on the pitch,” she explained.
Djurgården’s sporting director, Jean Balawo revealed that Osigwe first caught his attention during Nigeria’s group stage clash against Japan, where her creativity made the difference.
“I first caught sight of Goodness during the U20 World Cup in Colombia, where she provided a crucial assist in the match against Japan which ended 2-1,” Balawo said.
Goodness Osigwe on Embracing Stockholm Challenge
Goodness Osigwe is excited about being new to Stockholm, her new adventure and the opportunity to represent one of Sweden’s most historic clubs.
“It’s a privilege to be in the capital’s club,” Osigwe revealed.
The Nigerian teenager is tipped to make her debut appearance against Linköping on September 28, 2025, having already made the matchday squad in Djurgården’s 2-1 win over rivals Hammarby on Monday.
