Sevilla FC delivered a commanding 4–1 victory over defending La Liga champions FC Barcelona at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, marking their first league triumph over the Catalans since 2015.
Sevilla took control early when Alexis Sánchez converted a 13th-minute penalty, awarded after VAR confirmed a foul on Isaac Romero.
Romero then doubled the advantage in the 36th minute, racing onto a through ball from Ruben Vargas before finishing clinically past the goalkeeper.
Marcus Rashford pulled one back for Barcelona deep into first-half stoppage time (45+7’), but Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty later in the match proved costly for Hansi Flick’s men.
In the 90th minute, José Ángel Carmona restored Sevilla’s two-goal cushion with a composed finish at the end of a swift counterattack.
Moments later, Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke put the result beyond doubt.

Ejuke, introduced in the 93rd minute, burst down the flank and squared the ball for Adams to slot home in sixth minute of added time.
Adams, who also scored the winner against Rayo Vallecano last weekend, was booked for an overzealous celebration.
Ejuke’s pace and creativity off the bench helped Sevilla turn what could have been a nervy finish into a comprehensive dismantling of the defending champions.

The defeat leaves FC Barcelona two points behind leaders Real Madrid, following their midweek UEFA Champions League loss to Paris Saint-Germain.
With the win, Sevilla climb to sixth place in La Liga on 13 points from eight matches, as Matías Almeyda’s men look to put last season’s struggles firmly behind them.
