Nigeria Wrap Up CHAN Prep with Another Stalemate Against Zanzibar

The Super Eagles B were forced to settle for another draw against Zanzibar on Thursday.

The 2-2 result marked their final warm-up match ahead of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

This follows an earlier goalless stalemate between both sides on Monday.

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle made full use of his squad in the second fixture, handing game time to every available player.

The tactical rotation was a deliberate move to manage fitness levels and avoid injuries ahead of the tournament in Ivory Coast.

Anas Yusuf opened the scoring for Nigeria before Adedayo Olamilekan added a second to give the Eagles a two-goal cushion at halftime.

But the hosts responded strongly in the second half, scoring twice to draw level and deny Nigeria a win.

Despite not recording a win in both outings, the technical crew will take positives from the opportunity to assess tactical setups and evaluate player sharpness under match conditions.

Nigeria will now shift focus to their CHAN Group D opener against defending champions Senegal on Monday, August 5.
