Moses Simon’s goal was not enough to prevent Paris FC from suffering a 5-2 defeat to Olympique Marseille.
The home side took the lead in the 18th minute with a penalty, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled their advantage just six minutes later in the 24th minute. Ilan Kebbal pulled one back for Paris FC.
Simon leveled the score for the away side in the 58th minute.
He pounced on a through ball from Kebbal, connected with it using his right foot, and fired a shot from the center of the box into the bottom-left corner.
Aubameyang restored Marseille’s lead in the 73rd minute, and eight minutes later, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg sealed the win for Les Phocéens, making it 4-2.
In stoppage time, Robinio Vaz added a fifth for Marseille.
Although Paris FC suffered a heavy defeat, Simon impressed individually.
He played for 64 minutes, created one big chance, completed one pass into the final third, and successfully completed 50% of his dribbles.
The Nigerian winger was dispossessed only once during the match. He also contributed defensively, tracking back to make two interceptions and two ball recoveries.

Simon was included in Eric Chelle’s provisional list for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
With consistent performances like this, Simon could play a key role in the upcoming qualifiers in September, carrying his club form into the national team.
