“Mission X is Possible!” – Desire Oparanozie Backs Super Falcons to Win 10th Title

Former Super Falcons captain, Desire Oparanozie has voiced her confidence in Nigeria’s chances, boldly stating that none of their Group B opponents stand a chance against the reigning African giants.

Following Nigeria’s limited preparation leading up to the tournament, Oparanozie believes the Super Falcons’ talent, experience, and history will be enough to steamroll through the early stages and go all the way to clinch an unprecedented 10th continental crown.

“None of These Teams Should Pose a Threat to Us” – Oparanozie

Oparanozie, who captained Nigeria at previous WAFCON and FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments, spoke frankly about expectations for the group stage, where Nigeria will face Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria.

“The truth is, inasmuch as we think we’ve not had enough preparation, all of those teams in our group, they shouldn’t pose a threat to us.”

“As a Nigerian, if I’m being patriotic, I would say Nigeria will go all the way to winning.”

Her comments echo similar predictions made by other Super Falcons legends like Stella Mbachu, who also recently declared that Nigeria will win every single match at the tournament.

“Go Out There and Accomplish Mission X” – Oparanozie Backs The Super Falcons

In a heartfelt message to the team on the eve of the tournament’s kickoff, Oparanozie rallied her former teammates and the entire squad to play with determination, passion, and unity as they aim to make history on Moroccan soil.

“This is to wish the Super Falcons all the best, go out there, accomplish Mission X, win the 10th title and bring it home.”

She acknowledged the elite talent within the current Super Falcons squad, making it clear that Nigeria has all the tools needed to reclaim their continental dominance.

“We’ll have what it takes to make this happen, we’ll have the former best player in Africa in the team.

“We have the current best goalkeeper in Africa in the team, we have Osinachi Ohale who is a leader in the team, we have Rashidat Ajibade also who is the captain in the team as well.”

“We have quality players, all of you have the qualities of football players who can make this happen, bring that 10th title home and I’m wishing you all the best, I’ll be rooting for you.”

Nigeria Begins Group B Campaign on July 6

The Super Falcons will kick off their tournament on Sunday, July 6, with a clash against Tunisia, before facing Botswana on July 10 and Algeria on July 13.

The top two teams in each group and the two best third-placed teams will progress to the quarterfinals.

The squad, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, features key players such as Chiamaka Nnadozie, Asisat Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, and has been widely tipped as one of the favourites despite concerns over pre-tournament preparations.
