Mbappé Hits 60 Champions League Goals — Kane Shines, Spurs Escape, Griezmann Hits 200

Kylian Mbappé continued his blistering Champions League form with a brilliant hat-trick as Real Madrid thrashed Kairat Almaty 5-0 in Kazakhstan.

Mbappé become the sixth-highest scorer in competition history with 60 goals. He also became the third fastest player to achieve thus feat with 89 games.

The France captain opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half after Kairat goalkeeper Sherkhan Kalmurza recklessly clattered into Franco Mastantuono.

He doubled his tally in the 52nd minute, latching onto a long pass from Thibaut Courtois before delicately dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper.

Kairat briefly thought they had a lifeline when Valeri Gromyko appeared to be fouled by Dani Ceballos and a penalty was awarded, but VAR overturned the decision.

Mbappé missed a clear chance to complete his hat-trick moments later, dragging his shot wide of an empty net. But he made amends in the 73rd minute, finishing from close range to secure his first Champions League treble of the season.

Substitutes Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Díaz rounded off the scoring late on, with Camavinga heading in from close range before Díaz slotted into the bottom corner from Gonzalo Garcia’s pass, handing Kairat their heaviest-ever European defeat.

Mbappé: “I could have scored more”

Despite his hat-trick, Mbappé insisted he was not fully satisfied with his finishing on the night.

“A player like me, when I have five chances I should score five goals,” Mbappé said post-match.

“Today, I scored three, and that’s good, but I could have scored more. I’ll keep working to be more clinical in front of goal.”

The 25-year-old also reflected on Madrid’s weekend La Liga loss to rivals Atletico Madrid.

“You should never forget, we can’t forget what happened this weekend,” he said.

“This is another competition, but we have to keep thinking about what happened, and work to be better so as not to experience another night like that.”

Mbappé praised Courtois for his assist on the second goal.

“I don’t know if he meant to do it, but it’s a great pass. He made 80% of the goal and I made the other 20%.”

Madrid manager Xabi Alonso praised his side’s reaction after the derby defeat.

“In this format, when you have the chance to score goals, you can’t fail to do it,” Alonso said.

“We could have scored more, but it’s mission accomplished for today.”

Harry Kane Continues Hot Streak as Bayern Smash Pafos

In Cyprus, Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern Munich crushed Pafos 5-1 to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The England captain’s brace took him to 102 goals in 105 games for Bayern since joining in 2023, and 17 goals in just nine matches this campaign.

Kane struck first after 15 minutes, finishing well from Michael Olise’s assist.

Raphael Guerreiro added a second shortly after, before Nicolas Jackson scored his first Bayern goal following another Olise assist.

Kane made it 4-0 with a composed left-foot finish from close range.

Mislav Oršić pulled one back for Pafos with a superb curling strike before half-time, but Olise capped an excellent display by hammering home Bayern’s fifth midway through the second half.

The Bavarians almost added a sixth in stoppage time when both Serge Gnabry and Jackson struck the post.

Spurs Escape Arctic Shock With Late Equaliser

Tottenham narrowly avoided a Champions League upset after fighting back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Bodø/Glimt in Norway.

Jens Petter Hauge scored twice early in the second half to put the hosts 2-0 ahead, stunning the Premier League side.

Micky van de Ven powered home a header to give Spurs hope before Destiny Udogie hit the crossbar.

The equaliser came in the 89th minute when Archie Gray’s cross was turned into his own net by Jostein Gundersen.

Bodø’s missed first-half penalty through Kasper Høgh proved costly, as Spurs left with a point but plenty to improve on.

The match was played under challenging Arctic Circle conditions on an artificial pitch, but Tottenham were below par for much of the encounter.

Martínez Double Leads Inter Past Slavia Prague

Inter Milan made light work of Slavia Prague with a 3-0 win at San Siro, thanks to a Lautaro Martínez brace and a Denzel Dumfries strike.

Dumfries made it 2-0, and Martínez tapped in a third to become the first Inter player to score in seven different UCL seasons.

Paixão Stars as Marseille Thrash Ajax

Brazilian forward Igor Paixão scored twice as Marseille routed Ajax 4-0 at the Vélodrome.

He opened the scoring from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s pass before doubling the lead with a long-range effort after Davy Klaassen’s error.

Aubameyang then set up Mason Greenwood for the third, and scored the fourth himself after a quick counter-attack.

Paixão became the first Marseille player since Dimitri Payet in 2020 to score twice in a Champions League match. Ajax managed just two shots on target and were thoroughly outplayed.
