Ferrari’s comeback to the front of the grid in 2022 was overseen by Binotto, but despite all of that advancement, their progress was halted at various points throughout the season by problems with strategy and reliability.

As a result, they only managed to win four races between their two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, as Max Verstappen of Red Bull easily won the championship.

Ferrari announced that “the process is underway to choose Scuderia Ferrari’s new team principal and is expected to be finalized in the new year.” Binotto will depart his job on December 31, 2022.
With the regret that this brings, Binotto declared, “I have chosen to end my partnership with Ferrari.” With the assurance that I have done everything within my power to achieve the set goals, I am leaving a company that I love after 28 years of employment.

“I depart from a solid and expanding team. I wish a strong team nothing but success in the future as they work to reach their highest ambitions. As difficult as it has been for me to make this decision, I believe it is appropriate to move forward now.
I’d want to express my gratitude to everyone at Gestione Sportiva who has been a part of my arduous but ultimately rewarding path.

“I would like to thank Mattia for his many tremendous efforts throughout 28 years with Ferrari. Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari, remarked on as Mattia Binotto Resigns As Ferrari Team Boss, “particularly for leading the team back to a position of competitiveness during this past year. As a result, we are well-positioned to relaunch our challenge to capture the sport’s top honor, especially for our incredible supporters throughout the globe.” The entire Scuderia as well as the larger Ferrari community wishes Mattia the best in the future.
