Laura Kenny To Miss St-Quentin-En-Yvelines On Saturday Due To Illness
Due to illness, Laura Kenny will miss Saturday’s third round of the Track Champions League at St. Quentin-En-Yvelines.
The five-time Olympic champion is hoping to participate in the weekend’s doubleheader in London.
Kenny posted on Twitter, “Unfortunately I’ve caught a stomach sickness and won’t be able to fly to Paris to race in Round 3 of the UCI Track Champions League and I’m very bummed.”
The 30-year-old has had difficulty in her first season, earning only eight points after the first four races.
Last weekend in Berlin, she was the first rider to withdraw from the elimination race, finishing 17th in the scratch race.
I’d really like to race in London, and maybe I will, she added. We still have hope, right?
The racing on Saturday in the suburbs of Paris will also be missed by German star Lea Friedrich, who withdrew from the competition in Berlin midway through.
