David Rudisha survives plane crash: David Rudisha, a Kenyan who holds the world record in the 800 meters, has revealed to the local media how he managed to live after the plane he was traveling in crashed on Saturday night.
In the southeast Kenyan district of Kajiado, close to a park, the aircraft carrying him and five other passengers came down.
The retired Olympic champion told the Daily Nation newspaper, “All was okay until the plane’s engine abruptly went quiet about seven or eight minutes into the journey.
When one of the plane’s wings hit a tree, spun, and landed in a stony field, Rudisha characterized the incident as frightening. Photos from the scene imply that the plane also overturned.
According to reports, one of the passengers was being treated in a hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. Other others with less serious injuries were also taken to the hospital and later released.
Rudisha, it seems, was unharmed. He was returning from the annual Maasai Olympics competition held at the Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary in Kajiado county.
The 2012 London Olympics saw Rudisha put on an incredible effort that earned him the 800m world record. Although he is now retired, he has said that coaching is something he is thinking about.
