Nigeria forward, Joy Omewa added her name to the scoresheet as Fortuna Hjørring secured a 2–0 victory over Brøndby in the Danish Women’s League on Saturday.
Omewa, last season’s league top scorer, started the game on the bench but was introduced in the 58th minute, replacing Nikoline Nielsen.
The Nigerian forward wasted no time in making her presence felt, breaking the deadlock just seven minutes later.
She confidently converted from the penalty spot in the 65th minute to hand Fortuna Hjørring the lead in front of their home supporters.
Veteran midfielder Florentina Olar-Spanu added a second in stoppage time (93rd minute) to secure all three points for the reigning champions.

Red-Hot Joy Omewa Keeps Scoring
Omewa’s strike takes her tally to seven league goals this season. The 22-year-old, who finished last season as the league’s Golden Boot winner, has now scored in four consecutive league matches.
Title Race Heats Up
With the win, Fortuna Hjørring remain firmly in the title race, sitting second on the table with 21 points, just three points behind leaders HB Køge.
The Danish champions now turn their attention to continental duties, as they host Vorskla Poltava in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup second-leg clash on October 15, 2025, following a 1–1 draw in the first leg in Ukraine.
