Ipswich Town have announced the signing of striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Dutch giants Ajax.
The forward becomes the English side’s sixth summer signing ahead of the 2025/26 season.
He arrives as a direct replacement for Liam Delap, who was sold to Chelsea in July.
The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at French Ligue 1 side Lille.
“I was really excited when I heard of the interest, and I’m delighted to have joined a club with such big ambitions,” Akpom told TownTV.
“I’ve had lots of good experiences over the last few years, at Ajax and playing in the Champions League with Lille, and they have all improved me as a player. I’ll bring a winning mentality here.”
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Akpom is a product of the Arsenal youth academy and enjoyed loan spells with Brentford, Coventry City, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Brighton before playing abroad in Belgium and Cyprus.
He later starred for Middlesbrough, earning a move to Ajax in 2023. He spent two seasons in the Netherlands, including a loan stint at Lille.
Although capped by England at U17, U19 and U21 levels, Akpom remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level through descent, keeping the door open for a potential Super Eagles call-up.
