Inter Milan Chief Confirms Readiness to Battle for Ademola Lookman

Inter Milan CEO, Piero Ausilio, has reaffirmed the club’s desire to complete the transfer of Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman this summer.

Ausilio told Sky Sport Italia in a recent interview that, “It’s no secret, we are interested. We’ve spoken with Atalanta and made our expectations clear.

“We want to sign him, and Atalanta will be the ideal partner, regardless of our interests or the player’s wishes.

“Sancho and Nico Gonzalez? We can’t just focus in one direction. Lookman is our top choice. If we can’t make it happen, we’ll look for alternatives.”

Atalanta value Lookman at €50 million, but Inter don’t want to go past the €40 million valuation they have set.

The fee is regarded as absurd by neutrals, as a player like Lookman should go for a higher fee.

He is currently the African Men’s Best Player of the Year, and a player of his caliber—who has passed the 20-goal mark for club and country in the last two seasons—should go for a higher fee.

Meanwhile, it seems like Inter Milan may be getting their man for a bargain given the players form over two seasons in the Serie A.

Lookman, who is more established deserves to join the list of Atalanta’s high profile transfers.

For context, Atalanta sold Mateo Retegui to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah for €68m and Sam Beukema moving to Napoli from Bologna for €31m.

Rasmus Hojlund was sold to Manchester United for €77 million in the summer of 2023, and Teun Koopmeiners was sold to Juventus for €58 million.

It does not look like the finances will be a concern for Inter Milan, the club according to Gazzetta dello Sport, raked in a total revenue of around €515–520 million last season.
